About Us
We publish a free, modern browser version of Crazy Eights — the classic wild-8s shedding game — played against one to three computer opponents on a layout that works on any screen.
Our craft
One deck. Four wild eights.
Match the top card, time your 8s, empty your hand first. That loop is everything we design around.

What we make
crazyeights.app is the site behind our version of Crazy Eights. The product is a card game for one human against one to three computer players: match the suit or rank of the top discard, play an 8 to change the suit, and be first to empty your hand. Cards left in your hand score against you, and the first player to reach 100 points ends the match.
We are not an app-store publisher and there is nothing to download. The game is the website. That keeps load times short, works on phones and desktops alike, and avoids an account wall. Matches won, round win rate, streaks and your best match score live in local browser storage on your device.
If you are comparing this to another Crazy Eights site, this page only speaks for crazyeights.app. The rules, scoring, and table sizes described in our how-to-play guide and FAQ match this exact build.
Our story
Crazy Eights has been a first card game for generations of players. We treat that as a responsibility to get the rules exactly right and the friction as close to zero as we can.
Crazy Eights belongs to a family of shedding games in which you match the top card and a special card changes what is in force. Cousins include Mau-Mau in Germany and Switch in Britain. In the United States the version with wild eights became a staple of kitchen-table play — easy to teach, playable with any 52-card deck, and forgiving for players of all ages.
In 1971 Merle Robbins published Uno, a commercial game built on the same match-and-shed idea, with a purpose-made deck in place of the eights. For many players Uno is now the more familiar game, but the original still works with nothing more than a deck of cards — which is why it stays popular as a game to learn first.
crazyeights.app is an independent, modern implementation of the classic ruleset. The rules are unchanged; what is new is a rendering that is smooth on a phone, a layout that keeps your hand, the piles and every opponent on one screen, synthesized sound with a real mute, and computer players that play a sensible, readable game.
What we stand for
Open the page, press Play, and the cards are dealt. No account wall, no download, no splash video — the table is set before you finish reading this sentence.
Standard Crazy Eights: match suit or rank, 8s are wild, draw one when you are stuck, penalty points to 100. The computer players follow the same rules you do and cannot see your hand.
Matches won, round win rate, streaks and your best match score live on your device. We do not hold your record hostage behind a login, because there is no login.
The whole game is free. No energy meters, no interstitial video ads between rounds, no surprise paywall on the suit picker.
Who it is for
crazyeights.app is a family-friendly game with no chat and no store. A poor fit if you want to play live against friends online; a good fit if you want the real game of Crazy Eights, exactly as you remember it, on whatever screen is nearby.
A round takes a couple of minutes and a match takes about ten. Crazy Eights is built for a phone on the couch or a browser tab between tasks, not a long campaign.
One rule to learn — match the suit or rank — and one wildcard to time. The depth is in choosing which card to shed, when to spend an 8, and which suit to call.
Your record stays on the device you played on. That is a deliberate trade: instant play and real privacy, with no cloud restore.
Why this site
Crazy Eights has plenty of implementations online. This one exists to ship a single honest, fast version — correct rules, sensible opponents, and no clutter.
Play a quick two-player duel or a full four-handed table, with the right hand size for each — seven cards heads-up, five otherwise.
Playable cards lift and glow, unplayable ones dim, the suit in force has its own badge, and every opponent shows their card count and running score.
No auto-playing video, no fake "download our app" banners, no dark patterns around the settings. The how-to-play guide and FAQ describe this exact engine, not a generic write-up.
How we build
The game runs entirely on the web: fast loads, tap / click / keyboard controls, and progress that stays local unless you clear your browser data. We use lightweight analytics to see what helps players — never to gate the game behind a profile. The engine on the home page is the one described on our rules pages, so search results and the live game never drift apart.
Phone, tablet, and desktop share one table. Click with a mouse, tap on a touchscreen, or use the keyboard: Tab and Enter to play, Space to draw, N for a new game, M to mute.
Matches won, round win rate, streaks and best match score are stored locally. You own the continuity of your record without signing up.
We watch aggregate usage through Google Analytics to improve pacing and polish. Details are in our Privacy Policy — never as a sales pitch.
